This is a slightly annoyed blog post.
Yeah, so, I get it. You don’t smoke weed, you have friends that smoke weed, you are not interested in smoking weed, and you don’t want to hear about it. Really, I understand. But 420 isn’t just about “Look how cool I am because I smoke weed, lol 420 blaze it fagget” (I understand those people are out there. Get over it, those are called assholes, you’ll deal with a lot more of them as you get older,) it’s also about people peacefully protesting the war on drugs which causes a lot of fucking harm. 50,000 people were murdered in Mexico in 2011 by the drug Cartels, whose revenue is mainly gathered through sales of cannabis. The entire reason that they make that money, and kill all those people to do so is because of the war on drugs. Do you understand that? MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGAL SO PEOPLE WILL STOP KILLING OTHER, INNOCENT PEOPLE OVER IT. It’s that simple. 420 is a way to say “Look, a lot of people smoke weed. Its worst effect is that it makes people hungry and sleepy. Why is it illegal?” It’s to challenge people’s preconceived notions of cannabis users. Are some of these stereotypes coming from a real place? Yes, absolutely. That doesn’t give you the right to ignore and etch-a-sketch the murders of thousands of innocent people (conservatively) every year because of a fucking plant. The war on drugs needs to be scaled back, and non violent drug offenders (most of which are for marijuana possesion) need to be let out of the prisons where some of them have LIFE FUCKING SENTENCES (three strike laws) BECAUSE- AND I CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH- THEY BOUGHT OR SOLD A FUCKING PLANT! So before you bitch about 420 and how annoying stoners are, examine all of the people that brag about getting drunk on St. Patrick’s Day and tell me if it offends you just as much about the “420 bullshit.” I doubt it does- and that, my friends, is the real bullshit.

This quote actually manages to demonize the men who were the victims of hate crimes, which is something that is really impressive. Maybe if they had the foresight to not be gay men, they would not be killed.
I want to start with saying this quote makes me angrier than you can possibly imagine, because not only does it make straight women the victims of homophobia and completely ignore lesbian women, it actually manages to fault the men who were victims of hate crimes for their sexuality. If I were god, the punishment that I would give the person who wrote this would be thus: upon her death, she would be forced to read this to any and every person who ever died from a homophobia-related hate crime. Over and over she would have to blame the victim of the crime, and see the pain on his face when he is told that his death is his fault. And to the people who agree with this: you would be forced to follow her around for all eternity and see the real affects of what you agreed with.
Homophobia does not hurt straight women. It hurts gay men and lesbian women. I am sorry that I am so angry, but if you want to get me to hate you fast, use this quote.
